Why Do I Need A Drone Inspection?

A home’s roof is a critical area that must be inspected but many roofs are inaccessible due to height and/or dangerous roof material. For safety reasons, an inspector does not have to walk the roof and can rightly use a ladder at accessible eaves or use binoculars from the ground. Yes, you are potentially paying someone to inspect your roof with binoculars and not see the important, hidden parts of the roof that may require attention.

Why Inspectors May Not Walk on Roofs

A few reasons to warrant not walking on a roof:

Unsafe or fragile roof material (clay tile, metal, slate, wood shake, etc)
Inaccessible due to height or age deterioration
Uncomfortable with heights
Excessively steep pitch
Weather conditions

Licensed Drone Inspections

Many people think flying a drone is illegal and that’s correct in every case if flying for business purposes without proper certification and Air Traffic Control clearance. To legally conduct drone inspections, the Handy Vet obtained a FAA Part 107 sUAS Certificate and coordinates with local Air Traffic Control towers or FAA contractors to legally operate in controlled airspace and safely conduct inspections. Don’t be mislead by unlicensed drone pilots. Anyone hiring an unlicensed drone operator can face penalties up to $11,000 by the FAA. Click here for an independent article discussing the issue.

Videos of drone inspections in conjunction with a residential, commercial, or property inspections are available through a file share server in either a raw (unedited) format or an edited version at an additional cost. Video editing requires additional time but written reports will not be delayed and will be delivered within 24 hours detailing any issues.

Why Do I Need Aerial Drone Photography?

Do you look at Google Earth for imagery of your property? Google Earth images could be up to three years old but wouldn’t you prefer a current image of what your property looks like now? A simple flight around your property boundaries to conduct a simple aerial photography flight will give you more info than Google Earth ever will! The imagery provided is not a survey but may be used as an overlay to make decisions for future projects.

Are you part of a construction company or engineering firm and need progress pictures for your clients or to make further decisions? Do you want a before and after picture of a project? An aerial video and still shots of your property/project can be done with coordination by Handy Vet.
